Jim Steinman to be inducted into The Songwriters Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Jim Steinman, who is a 2012 inductee into The Songwriters Hall of Fame! Jim wrote the entire Bat Out Of Hell and Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell albums for Meat Loaf as well as "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" for Bonnie Tyler. Also on the inductee list this year are Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Seger, Don Schlitz, and the songwriting team Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones.

George Jones honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
At this year's Special Merit Awards ceremony hosted by the Recording Academy, George Jones received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award along with Glen Campbell, Diana Ross, the Allman Brothers Band and the Memphis Horns. This award is presented to performers who "during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording." Way to go Possum!

Blue Caps, Comets, Crickets, Famous Flames, Midnighters and Miracles added to inductee list
Additional inductees into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced after a special committee conducted a review to identify situations in which groups should be recognized along with the original lead singer inductee.
The frontmen of these groups were previously inducted: Gene Vincent in 1998 (the Blue Caps), Bill Haley in 1987 (the Comets), Buddy Holly in 1986 (the Crickets), James Brown in 1986 (the Famous Flames), Hank Ballard in 1980 (the Midnighters) and Smokey Robinson in 1987 (the Miracles).
With many great Carlin titles contributed by these groups, we are proud to see their inclusion into the Hall of Fame - well deserved!

Chris Isaak records "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" on new album
On his new album Beyond The Sun, Chris Isaak showcases his take on original Sun recordings by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and more. Included on the list is Isaak's version of "I Forgot To Remember To Forget," penned by Stan Kesler and Charlie Feathers. Elvis had the hit with this song in 1955. Other artists who have covered this song include Charlie Feathers, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles, Johnny Cash and Toni Arden. Listen to Isaak's version here.

Freddy King to be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced today its 2012 inductees, with Freddy King posthumously honored in the Early Influence category. Throughout the 1950s and '60s, Freddy recorded on the King/Federal label, releasing classic songs "Hide Away," "Have You Ever Loved A Woman," "You've Got To Love Her With A Feeling" and "San-Ho-Zay." He has been profoundly influential with his instrumental blues guitar style. Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan are among many who have acknowledged Freddy's impact on their own work.
The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on April 14 in Cleveland. Other inductees on the 2012 list are: Beastie Boys, Donovan, Guns N' Roses, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Small Faces/The Faces, Don Kirshner, Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd and Glyn Johns

Willie Nelson sings "Why Baby Why" and "Satisfied Mind" on new album
Willie Nelson does his version of two great Carlin classics on his newly released album, Remember Me Vol. 1. "Why Baby Why" (George Jones, Darrell Edwards) was a hit for George in 1955, while Porter Wagnor charted in the same year with "A Satisfied Mind" (Red Hayes, Jack Rhodes). "Body And Soul" wins Grammy Award
Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse nabbed a Grammy last night in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category for their rendition of "Body And Soul." The song is featured on Bennett's album Duets II, which also won for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Congratulations to all the Grammy winners and what a great night of music!

Bruce Cockburn nominated for 2012 JUNO Award
The nominees for the 2012 JUNO Awards were announced today in Toronto, and Bruce Cockburn's latest album Small Source Of Comfort is a contender in the Roots & Traditional Album Of The Year: Solo category.
Bruce already has 11 JUNO Awards under his belt and is a member in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Small Source Of Comfort reached No. 1 on the iTunes Singer Songwriter chart in Canada and Top 5 in the U.S. and U.K.
The 2012 JUNO Awards will be hosted by Canadian icon William Shatner on Sunday, April 1.
